England recalls Saka but leaves out Bellingham, Foden and Grealish

Bukayo Saka has been recalled to the England squad for upcoming fixtures against Wales and Latvia, while Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have all been left out, reported Xinhua.

The 24-year-old Arsenal forward missed last month's World Cup qualifying wins over Andorra and Serbia with a hamstring injury but returned to action this week, scoring in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League. He replaces teammate Noni Madueke, who is sidelined until November with a knee problem.

Saka has featured just once under coach Thomas Tuchel, in June's 3-1 defeat to Senegal, due to ongoing injury problems.

Bellingham, still regaining fitness after shoulder surgery, has only managed one start for Real Madrid since his return.

Foden, omitted last month following a dip in form, has impressed for Manchester City early this season but remains overlooked. Grealish, meanwhile, continues his international exile despite strong performances on loan at Everton, with his last England appearance dating back to October 2024.

There are also changes in defense, with Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah coming in for Newcastle's Tino Livramento, who faces up to eight weeks out after a knee injury.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence retain their places after recent debuts, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek also keeps his spot ahead of the fit-again Adam Wharton.

Tuchel's side will play Wales in a Wembley friendly on Thursday before traveling to Riga on October 14 for a World Cup qualifier. Victory in Latvia would leave England needing just two points from its final matches against Serbia and Albania in November to secure a place at next summer's World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
