Unbeaten Finland blow USA in Ice Hockey WC

Finland scored their third consecutive victory in Ice Hockey World Championship 2026 beating the defending champion United States of America (USA) by 6 goals to 2 at Swiss Life Arena in Zurich, Switzerland on Monday afternoon.

The Lions, who completely dominated over the Americans in the match and achieved the victory to ensure lead in Group A with nine points together with Switzerland.

Lenni Hameenaho scored two goals and Patrik Puistola, Aatu Raty, Saku Maenalanen, and Anton Lundell scored one goal each for Finland while Matt Coronato and Ryan Coronato scored one goal each for USA.

The defending champions are struggling with one victory in three matches in the tournament so far.

Hameenaho opened the scoring at 7th minute to take 1-0 lead for Finland but Coronato levelled the score within a span of less than two minutes. The Lions again took lead again within one minute as Puistola scored second goal for the country. Raty widened the gap at the gap at 15th minute resulting end of the first period 3-1.

Hameenaho scored again followed by Maenalanen at the 22nd minute to ensure the victory, for the Finns, although Coronato narrowed down the gap at 44th minute. But Lundell enriched the victory 6-2 at the 47th minute.

Earlier, the Lions beat Germany and Hungary in their two previous matches and will play against Latvia in their fourth match on Thursday.
