Song Kuk Hyang extended the Democratic People's Republic of Korea women's team's winning streak by setting three new world records in the 69kg category on the sixth day of the IWF World Championships here Tuesday, reported Xinhua.
Song set world records with her second lifts in both snatch and clean and jerk, then declined her final attempts, achieving a new total world record of 120kg-150kg-270kg.
Colombia's Julieth Rodriguez placed second with a total of 241kg, lifting 110 in the snatch and 131 in the clean and jerk, while Bahrain's Ingrid Vanesa Segura took third with 107 and 134 for the same total. Chen Wen Huei of Chinese Taipei earned the bronze medal in the clean and jerk in the B Group with 132 and finished fifth overall.
DPRK women have now swept all five categories in 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, and 69kg.
In the men's 88kg category, Colombia's Yeison Lopez lift two world records in snatch at 177kg and total at 387kg, becoming the first champion from the Americas in Forde. He ranked second in the clean and jerk with 210kg, while DPRK's Ro Kwang Ryol topped the event with a world record 215kg.
Lopez and Ro completed nine good lifts, but the other 10 athletes faced difficulties, managing only 15 good lifts in Group A and nine of the 31 competitors failed to record a total result.
The women's 77kg competition is scheduled for October 8.
