Harry Kane scored twice to become the fastest man to reach 100 goals for one club in Europe's top five leagues this century as Bayern Munich extended their perfect season start with a 4-0 Bundesliga victory over Werder Bremen on Friday.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 22nd before England captain Kane converted a penalty in the 45th and netted again in the 65th minute. Konrad Laimer wrapped up matters late on.
Record breakers
Kane reached the century milestone in his 104th match since joining Bayern in 2023 from Tottenham Hotspur. That was one better than the 105 matches Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland needed to reach 100 goals at Real Madrid and Manchester City, respectively.
Kane's 18 straight converted penalties for Bayern are also a record.
Bayern midfielders Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich, who came on as a substitute in the second half, played their 300th Bundesliga match.
Kimmich has won 217 of them, yet another league record as he moved one victory ahead of his former team-mate Thomas Müller, who had 216 wins in his first 300 top flight games.
Title holders Bayern top the Bundesliga with a maximum 15 points from five matches and a goal difference of 22-3, and they have won all of their eight games in all competitions this term. Mainly harmless Bremen remained 14th on four points.
Kane 'really proud'
"It's crazy even for me. It is an honour reach 100 goals for this great club," Kane told Sky TV. "It is something I am really proud of. "Hopefully I can reach another 100 quickly."
Looking at the match, he added: "Another great performance. We need to carry on like this."
Coach Vincent Kompany said: "It was another great performance from Harry. To achieve the record and work so much for the team shows his hunger."
Youngster Tom Bischof added: "You should see him in training. The guy is amazing."
Kane misses but then scores
Teenager Bischof got his first Bundesliga start in place of Kimmich who was ill earlier in the week.
Kane meanwhile entered the match with 98 goals and could have reached 100 in the opening five minutes. But he first aimed wide right, and was then superbly denied by Bremen goalkeeper Karl Hein who was making his top flight debut in place of injured Mio Backhaus.
Bayern broke the deadlock in the 22nd when a Michael Olise cross was back-heeled towards goal by Jonathan Tah and went in via Diaz' knee.
Kane was denied by Hein again, and Marco Friedl cleared on the goal-line just ahead of him, but a few minutes later Friedl tripped Kane who then sent Hein the wrong way from the spot to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time.
Century, debuts and another big win
Bremen had a decent spell without threatening seriously, but Bayern's third finally came when Kane tapped in Diaz' cross from the left.
Kane was subbed off in the 78th for Nicolas Jackson. Wisdom Mike then came on for Diaz for his Bundesliga debut as Bayern's youngest player two days after his 17th birthday – and Hein denied both Jackson and Mike their first goal.
Kimmich was spared blushes when a mistake by the Germany captain allowed Victor Boniface to score for Bremen, but the offside flag was up.
Bayern eventually had the last laugh when Bischof set up Laimer in the 87th for the final score in Bayern's only home game during the Oktoberfest period in Munich.
