Germany captain Kimmich starts his own football academy

Germany national team captain Joshua Kimmich has opened his own football academy in his home town Rottweil, reported dpa.

Kids from six to 14 years old will have the opportunity to train at top level and without having to leave their families.

The opening event is fully booked and is scheduled for Sunday with a football camp, in which 120 boys and girls will participate.

"I have experienced first-hand how important it is to have the right conditions to develop both athletically and personally," Kimmich said in a statement.

That's what he wants to offer to young talents in his home region with his initiative. The academy should be a place "where children can pursue their football dreams without having to leave their familiar surroundings," the Bayern Munich player said.

The project, supported by local partners, includes training camps, individual coaching for groups and individuals, and tournaments. With its own team, the academy will also compete against other youth teams from all over Germany.
