Former Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand is to take over at last year's Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, according to news reports on Monday, said dpa.
Hjulmand is to succeed Dutchman Erik ten Hag, who was axed a week ago after two months and three official matches in charge.
Kicker sports magazine and the Bild paper reported that Leverkusen bosses have reached an agreement with Hjulmand, with a contract to be signed within the next days.
Leverkusen's next match is on Friday against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hjulmand coached Denmark from 2020 to 2024 and led them into the Euro 2020 semi-finals. His last match in that capacity was a 2-0 defeat against Germany at Euro 2024.
He has coached in the Bundesliga before, at Mainz, where he had to go during his first season 2014-15.
Ten Hag had taken over on July 1 from Xabi Alonso who had moved on to Real Madrid.
He managed only one victory in the three official matches, against lower league Grossaspach in the German Cup, while in the Bundesliga they lost against Hoffenheim and drew 3-3 at 10-man Werder Bremen after leading 3-3.
Ten Hag's chmistry with players as well as CEO Fernando Carro and managing director for sport Simon Rolfes was reportedly also not the best and contributed to his dismissal on September 1.
The new coach faces a difficult job with a new-look team after many key players from the 2024 Invincibles side left in summer, led by Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka and Jonathan Tah.
