Elche striker Rafa Mir is set to appear in court on October 13 to face charges of sexual assault with violence after a Valencia court decided to proceed with the case against him and fellow footballer, Pablo Jara, reported Xinhua.
The Court of Instruction No. 8 of Lliria (Valencia) concluded that there is "evidence, not mere suspicion" against Mir in two instances of sexual assault involving violence against a 21-year-old woman.
The alleged incident occurred at Mir's residence on September 1, 2024, while he was on loan at Valencia from Sevilla. The assaults reportedly took place in the swimming pool and the bathroom.
Mir has been ordered to post bail of 12,500 euros, while Jara's bail is set at 5,000 euros. Mir is also subject to strict measures, including surrendering his passport, a travel ban from leaving the country, and a requirement to report to a police station weekly.
Following the incident, Mir was fined by Valencia and suspended for several months before returning to play at the end of last season. He then returned to Sevilla, who loaned him to Elche this season, where he has scored three goals in La Liga, including one against Sevilla.
