Four fans of Atletico Madrid were given prison sentences of 14-22 months on Monday for hanging a dummy wearing a shirt of Real Madrid's Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr from a motorway bridge close to Real's Valdebebas training ground, reported Xinhua.
The event happened on the night of January 23, 2023, hours before Real Madrid was due to play Atletico Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The dummy was with the Vinicius shirt and a noose around its neck, and the four hung a banner that read "Madrid hates Real" in Spanish.
The four Ultras admitted their actions and read a letter out in court apologizing to Vinicius and expressing "total repentance" for their actions.
Three of the four have also been given a three-year stadium ban from all grounds in Spain, while the other has a four-year-ban. They have also been banned from posting on social media for the term of their sentences.
Because it is a first offense for all four, they will not have to go to prison unless they commit further offenses or break their respective stadium bans.
