
A total of 11,500 students were offered admission in the autumn joint application to higher educational institutions in Finland, said the Finnish National Agency for Education in a press release on Friday.
The number of applicants was 33,900 in the joint application, of whom 34 %, were offered admission.
More than half were offered admission to their first programme of choice.
The joint application included programmes starting in January 2026.
Out of the qualified students, 11,300 got admission in the universities of applied sciences (Polytechnic Institutes) while 170 in the universities.
A total of 20 universities of applied sciences and two universities were involved in the autumn joint application.
Of the study options, 301 were to universities of applied sciences and nine to universities.
Ninety eight percent of the applicants applied to universities of applied sciences, 1% applied to both, and 1% applied to universities alone.
Of the students that so far were offered a study place, 67 % gained admission to their first programme of choice.
On average, applicants set 3.1 study options on the application form. In the autumn joint application, one can apply for six programmes.
A total of 28,900 applicants applied for programmes leading to a bachelor's or bachelor's and master's degree. Of them, 9,460 were offered admission.
Moreover 1,990 applicants were admitted to programmes leading directly to a master's degree. The number of applicants for these programmes was 5,780.
This week, the applicants have been informed of the results of the autumn joint application.
The offer of admission must be accepted by 3:00 p.m. on November 27 at the latest. Admission can be offered from the waiting list until December 8.
The higher education institutions can organise additional application periods in November and December for study places that have remained vacant in the joint application.
The joint application to higher education degree programmes in English for studies beginning in autumn 2025 is from January 7 to January 21, 2026.
